Symptom Education

Describe what you're experiencing. Understand your next step.

A guided educational check that organizes what you describe — where, how severe, how long, and what makes it better or worse — and provides educational information, warning signs, and care-navigation support. It does not diagnose or prescribe.

Start with the map, not the medical dictionary

Tap the part of the body that’s bothering you and refine from there. You never have to know the name of a condition, an organ or a symptom to get useful guidance.

  • Front and back views with progressively finer areas as you zoom in.
  • Multiple areas at once — because pain rarely stays in one place.
  • Full keyboard and screen-reader navigation, with named regions as an alternative to tapping.
  • Works one-handed on a phone, which is how most people use it.

Symptom severity

“A bit sore” and “can’t stand up” are different answers

Severity is the single biggest driver of what you should do next, and it’s the thing people most often understate. The scale is anchored in what you can still do, not in abstract numbers.

  • Anchored descriptions: can you sleep, work, walk, eat?
  • Change over time captured as well as the current level.
  • Sudden severe onset is treated as a warning sign in its own right.
  • Your answers are saved so a follow-up check can compare against them.

Duration & timing

Two hours and two weeks mean very different things

The same symptom can be routine or urgent depending purely on how fast it appeared and how long it has stayed. The checker captures onset, pattern and triggers, then weights them properly.

  • Sudden onset versus gradual build-up — often the deciding factor.
  • Time-of-day patterns, which matter for headaches, joints and breathing.
  • Triggers and relievers: food, movement, position, medication, stress.
  • A running timeline you can show a clinician instead of reconstructing it from memory.

What happens after you answer

Four passes run on every check, in this order. Safety always goes first.

Red-flag screen

Warning signs are tested before anything else. If one fires, the check stops and routes to urgent care.

Pattern matching

Your answers are compared against curated clinical reference material, not the open web.

Confidence weighting

Where the picture is genuinely unclear, the result says so rather than guessing.

Next-step ranking

Options are ordered by what is safest and most practical for you right now.

Educational Next Steps

Four honest answers — and it tells you which one you’ve got

Self-Care Information

General self-care information, what to watch for, and when to seek professional guidance.

OTC Education

Learn about common non-prescription product categories, key details, cautions, and available pharmacy or retail options.

Talk to a Clinician

Prepare your symptom summary and, where available, connect with a licensed clinician for professional care.

Seek Urgent Care

Clear information about warning signs and local emergency resources when urgent professional care may be needed.

An important limit. The symptom checker organises information and suggests next steps. It does not diagnose conditions, prescribe medication or replace an examination by a licensed clinician. If you feel you are in danger, contact your local emergency number immediately.
Symptom checker FAQ

The questions we get most

No. It is educational guidance. The checker structures what you report and points you to a sensible next step, but only a licensed clinician who can examine you is able to diagnose.

Accuracy depends heavily on what you tell it. The system is built to be cautious: where the picture is unclear, it recommends the safer route rather than the more likely one. Every result carries a confidence indication.

Describe it in your own words in the AI Health Companion instead. Free text feeds into the same reasoning and handles anything the guided flow doesn’t cover.

Yes. Switch to their profile before you start so age-appropriate rules apply — guidance for a two-year-old is not the same as for an adult.

The check needs a connection to run the analysis. Previously saved summaries and your health wallet remain readable offline.

They are encrypted and stored against your profile so you can compare over time. You can export or delete them at any point from your privacy settings.
